Introduction To Points And Awards
When you complete a puzzle, you'll get more than just the satisfaction of completing the puzzle! As long as you don't use the 'show solution' button to reveal the solution, then you'll be awarded points for every puzzle you solve.
The points you receive for solving a puzzle will vary based on a couple of factors. There are different points available depending on the puzzle you have solved: for instance a skeleton crossword is considerably trickier than a word ladder to solve, and takes a lot longer too, so you'll get more points for solving one. Additionally there are points available for speed too, and generally the quicker you solve a puzzle, the more points you'll receive.
We hope you'll find the points system an enjoyable addition to the site! You'll also be able to track your progress in the leader boards and see how many points you have relative to other solvers if you are of a more competitive constitution; whilst for those who are not at all interested in the scores of others then you can simply ignore the points system as you see fit.
In addition to the points system, another fun addition to the site is the concept of awards. When you hit certain solving milestones, then you will receive an award as acknowledgement of your solving prowess and/or dedication to the cause! Awards are split into two main categories: those based on the number of puzzles you've solved, and the second relates to each individual puzzle type on the site.
As you might expect, there are also a few surprise and special awards available too, so keep your eyes out each time you solve a puzzle and we'll tell you whether you've received an award, in addition to your points for the puzzle.
Finally it is worth noting that you won't receive any puzzle points or awards if you don't mark your puzzle as completed once you've successfully solved it, so please remember to do so, as we need to log your results in order to calculate your points and awards.
Happy solving, and please do just let us know if you have any thoughts, comments or ideas for awards or bonuses that you'd like to see here at Wordy Puzzle!
